Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- (16 ounce) can slice d peaches in heavy syrup
- 1/4 cup swhite sugar, divided
- cup self-rising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
- cup2% milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Add butter to an 8x8 inch baking dish; place in the oven to melt.
- Combine peaches with syrup and 2 tablespoons sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low; simmer for 10 minutes. Set aside.
- Whisk flour, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl; stir in milk until mixture is just moist. Pour batter into the preheated baking dish; spoon peach slices and most of the syrup over batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Continue baking until golden brown, 30 to 45 minutes more.
