Phyllo Meat Pie (Egyptian Goulash)

Ingredients

  • 1 table spoon olive oil.
  • 1 small onion.
  • 1.5 pound lean ground beef.
  • 1 teaspoon allspice.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepperor to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon saltor to taste. * used pink
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.
  • 1 Tablespoon tomato paste.
  • A packet (16oz) phyllo doughthawed.
  • 1/2 cup light tasting olive oilNote2.
  • 1/4 cup ghee or butter melted.
  • 1 cup milk.
  • 1 large egg.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions

  1. In a large non stick skillet over medium high heat, add the olive oil then sauté onion for 2 3 minutes until tender.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart then add all the other ingredients. Cook until browned with no pink spots, set aside.
