Homemade Banana Upside-Down Cake

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon sunsalted butter, cut into small piece s
  • medium bananas, slice d 1/4-inch thick
  • 3/4 cup sall-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon sbaking powder
  • teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon svanilla extra ct
  • medium overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8 inch square cake pan. Allrecipes / Julia Hartbeck
  2. Spread brown sugar on the bottom of the prepared pan and scatter butter pieces on top. Allrecipes / Julia Hartbeck
  3. Place the pan in the preheated oven until butter has melted, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oven; stir and spread mixture evenly on the bottom of the pan. Arrange sliced bananas to cover the bottom. Set aside. Allrecipes / Julia Hartbeck
  4. Stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl; set aside. Allrecipes / Julia Hartbeck
  5. Beat white sugar and butter together with an electric mixer in a large bowl. Mix in eggs and vanilla until well combined. Add mashed bananas and sour cream; mix to combine. Add flour mixture on low speed and beat until batter is just combined. Allrecipes / Julia Hartbeck
